SongBook Chordpro App Reviews

ok, but....

the website says there are thousands and thousands of songs in the format....that may be, but i cant find 99% of the ones i want....im creating my own, but dont buy this app based on their say-so of song base. I should have researched that first, i wouldnt have purchased. 3 stars because when you FINALLY get a song in there, it works as they say...

Good buy binder....

I wanted to get rid of my lyric and chord binder of songs for when the band plays live and this has accomplished my objective. Dont rely on downloaded songs for formatting. If you dont mind doing some fine tuning on downloaded songs you will love the app. Sure reduces the keying of lyrics and chords on paper. I have some ideas on how to improve the download experience and I have passed along my thoughts to the developers. I will still bring along my binder as back-up so stay tuned....

Smart App

This is one of the best apps I ever purchased!!!

Very Cool!

Great app, makes loading lyrics on the go so easy. Love it!

Great app

Works very well the Dropbox sync allows our band to share songs even we arent together great job

A Good Choice, But

This App does what you need it to do: display lyrics while you perform, and enable multiple users to add or edit lyrics for everyone in the group. Having now spent many, many hours putting our bands lyrics into this App, and having used it in a gig, you will find that this is a very powerful and enabling App. Definitely buy it. But lets remember, as a user group, that we can help to make it even better. Any software drives culture - the way we approach life and challenges; I have found that the lyrics from Chordie and other sites often differ from each other, or the way youve always sung it, and the guy who has the iPad now might think he controls the lyrics, and others may not be comfortable with that. So, my advice is to make this a collaborative venture, for sure, not just within your band, but together as a Songbook group. Does the Songbook site have a users forum? That would be helpful. Be careful with Dropbox, you can lose everything if you synch when the file has been emptied. The are no warning windows in the Songbook App, and one would be helpful to prevent disabling disasters, for example "synching now will cause the loss of material - go ahead?" Overall, a great App, one Ill be using for years to come.

Good!

Great app for keeping charts and playing live sets. The PC supportive software is overpriced, and should come as a package deal.

Songbook Chordpro - disappointing

I had high hopes for this app and picked it over OnSong mainly due to the on screen chord bar, user entered chord patterns and a couple other interface issues I thought might be an advantage. Unfortunately, this app was such a letdown on the way it handles imports of tab files I went back and bought OnSong less than 2 hours later. The problem is that I have a substantial library of tab song sheets (chords above lyrics)not the Chordpro format (chords in [G] format inserted within the lyrics). Songbook will open them but it screws up the chord placement dramatically so that the chords are way off where they should be above the lyrics below. Furthermore, it doesnt recognize the chords as chords, just lyrics so no chord features like diagrams, formatting or transposing are available. OnSong on the other hand imports my files almost perfectly and recognizes the cords in the proper location. OnSong doesnt have a couple of the features in SongBook like swipe to next song, the chord bar at bottom of screen but if it comes to pretty much redoing 400 odd songs Ill give up a couple little features that I can probably live without vs a better import function. Autoscroll works well I both apps as does metronome, play along, cataloging etc etc. in e end I would have been happy with this app if its import function was anywhere as good as its competition when it comes to regular song tabs. You can find free converter programs online like Songsheet Generator and it does a pretty decent job of converting tab to chordpro, not perfect but decent. This beggs the question, if Songsheet Generator can do this why cant Songbook? Impliment this feature and this app would be #1 IMO.

I use this app almost every day!

I use ChordPro for overhauling my existing song library and for adding new stuff really quickly. The phone app is actually better than the Windows desktop version. I use a bluetooth keyboard with the phone for editing the songs. One problem I have is that the display will not expand over the screen space where the regular keyboard was. The result is that I am working with only half of the available screen space when I use the external keyboard. Overall I enjoy using this app.

Great tool for Organizing Songs

Simple, well laid out interface. Recommended.

Just what Ive been looking for

Awesome for playing live with my tabs collection.. Great app

Best Song Book Ive Found

Im a working musician and Ive tried a couple of different apps for sheet music before; This one blows them all away. It completely eliminates the need for clunks binders and the scroll and transpose features are perfect! Gigging made simple!

SongBook Chordpro

No matter what I do, I cant seem to delete the "recently changed" playlist or anything in it. I can clear it out, but the songs come back again and it wont delete. anyone have any ideas?

Do not use this application if you are using Pages on your iPad!

There is a conflict as it will grab documents from your e-mail and it does not let you choose Pages. As well, inserting chord names into song lyrics manually is very difficult; the brackets that you have to select to do so are very small and really hard to use on a touch screen. Overall, a waste of money. This my last use of the application before I delete it!

Highly recommend

Been using this app for about a year. Love love love the convenience, intuitive interface, and features. Quick chord reference bottom screen for each song. Transposing is a snap. Experimented with the song sharing feature - broadcast the lyrics from my iPad to another iPad, 2 touches and a 3 iPhones for a campfire singalong. Dropbox sync but stores locally for offline playing. As if that wasnt enough, you can see the music in the dark and the sheets dont blow away in the wind!

Beauty app

Best Ive found for chords/lyrics database. Been using Windows version for years, this is what portable app is all about. Hundreds of "my" songs in pocket, import formatted new ones easily, quickly. Well thought-out editing methods. Quick response, helpful tech support. I always show this to friends and highly recommend it

Best app

Absolutely best app I have downloaded It makes playing live a little more professional no more music book and ability to change the key to suit is brilliant a well thought out app.. Thanks

SongBook ChordPro

Wonderful app... Would recommend without hesitation, and I rarely comment on apps... Easy to use, well set up and highly functional.

Excellent a+++

Wonderful app. The programmers did a wonderful job implementing the functions in an extremely useful and intuitive manner. I love it and have been using it every day. On a side note, I also bought the pc version previously but lost the registration key for it, been trying to contact the company for a new key, so far unsuccessful

Best of breed

Fantastic app... Best of it’s sort Ive found. I love the dropbox sync. Im using it with a Bluetooth controller and have replaced a large binder and a music stand with my iPad mounted on my mic stand. Ive been using SongBook for all my solo and band gigging for a couple years now. It is an indispensable app for me. I use it on my iPad and my Mac Desktop. Most fellow performers I have shown it to are also now using it. The Drop Box integration is great for collaboration with other musicians, as is the ability to control multiple devices with one Bluetooth foot pedal. Every version by this very active developer brings even further features and refinements. One of the best software investments Ive made.
